Who We Are

Laura Stotler
Executive Director

Laura was trained as a Discipleship Counselor under Network 220 in 2012. Her previous experience as a lay counselor within the Network included her role as a staff counselor and a Counseling Supervisor, conducting individual and marriage sessions.

Earning a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland in 1999, Laura's focus on individuals and families has led her to work in a diverse range of settings . These include school social work, in-patient child psychiatry, addictions clinics, and Christian and secular private practices. While she enjoys counseling various populations, God has always brought her back to teaching the truth of identity in Christ.

Experience in the “talk therapy” model proved to sharpen Laura's counseling skills but rarely evidenced lasting change in her clients. In fact, Laura realized that she was teaching her clients to work harder/cope with their problems versus embracing Christ as their life and their strength. One of her favorite verses is 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” This verse proved to be pivotal in the discipleship process as she teaches her clients to lose confidence in their strategies and to appropriate Christ as their strength. When she learned about the transformative teachings of Paul’s letters, she knew that counseling apart from the Holy Spirit was impossible.

Witnessing this transformation in her own life - and in the lives of her clients - has made her passionate about sharing these truths with others. She has also found great joy in being a discipleship counselor, a role she has embraced and enjoyed ever since.

Laura is happily married to her husband, Michael, and has two grown daughters whom she adores. She is also a Spiritual Director within Tres Dias, a Fourth Day Retreat Community.
