Our Founder
Laura Stotler, our founder and executive director, has over 25 years of experience in counseling in a variety of settings, including Christian counseling with individuals, couples and families, inpatient psychiatric settings as well as addiction clinics.
She has spent the last 13 years as a Discipleship Counselor, for which she received training under Network 220 in 2012.
Her previous experience as a lay counselor within Network 220 included her role as staff counselor and counseling supervisor, conducting individual and marriage sessions.
Laura earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland in 1999. Her passion for supporting individuals and families has taken her into a wide range of settings, including school social work, inpatient child psychiatry, addiction recovery programs, and both Christian and secular private practice.
While she enjoys counseling various populations, God has always brought her back to teaching the truth of identity in Christ.
Experience within the traditional “talk therapy” model refined Laura’s counseling skills but often fell short of producing lasting transformation in her clients. Over time, she recognized that she was helping people cope with their struggles rather than leading them to embrace Christ as their very life and source of strength. A key verse that shaped this shift in her approach is 2 Corinthians 12:9.
This truth became foundational in her discipleship counseling, as she now guides clients to release confidence in their own efforts and instead draw upon the indwelling strength of Christ.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
When Laura learned about the transformative teachings of Paul’s letters, she knew that counseling apart from the Holy Spirit was impossible.
Experiencing this transformation in her own life—and seeing it unfold in the lives of her clients—has ignited Laura’s passion to share these life-changing truths with others. She finds deep joy and fulfillment in her role as a discipleship counselor, a calling she has wholeheartedly embraced and continues to love.
Laura is blessed to share life with her husband, Michael, and she cherishes their two grown daughters, who hold a special place in her heart. She also serves as a Spiritual Director with Tres Dias, a Fourth Day Retreat Community, where she finds deep joy in walking alongside others in their spiritual journeys.
