Rooted Ministries was founded in 2024 by Laura Stotler as a 501(c)3 non-denominational non-profit. The name “Rooted Ministries” is based on Colossians 2:6-7:
Colossians 2:6-7
This verse reminds us that receiving Christ means living from our true identity in Him. We’re here to help you know and walk in that truth.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Galatians 2:20
Our clients can expect to walk through their story with a trusted counselor who will point them to Christ as their identity as they learn to rely on Jesus as their life, not just a helper.
While a person’s circumstances may not change, their perspective—and the peace available through Christ—can completely change the way they walk through them. Knowing that Jesus is enough brings a peace that empowers us to face hardships with confidence and resilience.
Through this process, many people experience growth in ways they never imagined:
Rooted ministries is a non-profit counseling ministry that does not accept insurance. We rely on the support of our donors and the fees collected for counseling.
Our fee is $80 for a sixty minute session. Clients meet with their counselors weekly. Need based scholarships are available.
Our counselors meet with clients on Zoom. We have an office in Harford County, Maryland for locals who prefer face-to-face sessions.
No, your counselor is not acting in the capacity of a licensed therapist but rather a lay counseling position. The counselors who are trained at Rooted Ministries, underwent a rigorous training and supervision program offered through www.network220.com This training is equivalent to several college level courses and involves a significant educational and supervisory commitment. We are intentional about keeping our counselors skills sharp through continuing education and peer supervision.
No. Discipleship counseling is intentionally short-term, typically lasting around 6 months. After completing the process, we offer various ways to stay connected and continue walking in the truth and freedom God revealed to you throughout your counseling journey.
Discipleship counseling is not the same as therapy. While therapy often focuses on understanding your past and learning to cope with your present circumstances, discipleship counseling takes a different approach.
In discipleship counseling, you meet with a counselor who will help you:
It is not about assigning blame but about gaining clarity, freedom, and hope by aligning your beliefs with God’s truth.
Discipleship counseling is designed for the Jesus follower or anyone who is curious and wants to grow in their faith with Christ.
